Jonathan Byerley fronts the Brooklyn garage folk rock band Plates Of Cake. As a songwriter, Byerley’s roots go back to his home state of Colorado, where he self-released his first solo album, Hymns and Fragments, in 2006. He spent the following years working odd jobs, writing and recording, and touring the country. He has performed shows with the likes of Richard Buckner, Eric Bachmann, Laura Gibson, and with Denver-luminaries Devotchka.

After forming a band and signing with All Hands Electric, the debut Plates Of Cake LP was released in late 2010 to critical acclaim. A follow-up seven-inch single was released in October of 2011. Catherine Market, to be officially released by La Société Expéditionnaire in early 2012, bridges the gap between the bedroom folk of Hymns and Fragments and the lo-fi jangle of Plates Of Cake. Byerley currently lives in Brooklyn where he is a librarian and an avid home brewer.
